Clicking album by album through the career of Marius Müller-Westernhagen, with music videos, unreleased photos and behind-the-scenes material: for Warner Music, we designed the digital Westernhagen archive. The occasion was the artist’s 75th birthday and the anniversary album “Westernhagen 75”, which brings together at least one song from every album he has released.
The website is a journey through the artist’s eras, the man behind hits like “Freiheit” and “Mit 18”. More than 20 albums can be explored one by one, each with music videos, previously unreleased photos and behind-the-scenes material. The new album is right there to discover and buy.
The fans tell the story too: they share their personal moments with Westernhagen and browse through what other fans have shared. We worked out the experience in wireframes, designed every section and subpage, and prepared the content so the web developers could build it in directly.
A first, lean version went online several months before the full site, letting fans pre-order the album and buy tour tickets. On 26 July the complete website followed with the full archive, available at westernhagen.de.
