Pulled pork from an electric grill without standing next to it all day: with the SEVERIN SEVO Smart Control, the grill is controlled by app, and the automatic Grillmaster makes even tricky dishes easy for beginners and pros. We built the entire chain for it, from the circuit board inside the grill to the backend and the app for iOS and Android.
The story starts in 2020: alongside the SEVERIN SEVO, which reaches up to 500 °C on its surface, our “mySEVERIN” app for controlling the grill was released. After SEVERIN refreshed its corporate design in 2022, the app got a new look for the 2023 grilling season, plus new features such as Easy BBQ.
The SEVO Smart Control was about two things: controlling the grill remotely and getting every dish right. That takes the full infrastructure, starting with a connected circuit board with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and the firmware that talks to the grill. On top come user management, device pairing and a secure connection between user and grill.
We are especially proud of the setup: three steps, under two minutes, depending on how fast you type your Wi-Fi password. After that, the app sets the temperature and grilling modes such as “Indirect” or “Boost”, runs timers and keeps an eye on the core temperature of the food. That way the grill can be left to do its thing, even during long cooking times. The SEVERIN SEVO Smart Control won the Kitchen Innovation Award 2021.
