About Ekko
Ekko
One tap on the station icon and the programme is playing in under a second. With Ekko, a radio station gets its own app for iPhone and Android and its own website, under its own name and in its own look, on a par with the big broadcasters. Ekko is our platform for radio, developed and run by Nuuk and hosted in Germany. Programming, brand and listener data stay with the station.
The idea comes from more than ten years of radio projects, including ANTENNE BAYERN, ENERGY and Absolut Radio. Many regional stations use a generic white-label app or have none at all. Ekko gives them what makes a great radio app: the current song shows up in real time with its cover, the programme keeps playing in the car via CarPlay and Android Auto and at home via AirPlay and Chromecast. Alarm clock and sleep timer are built in, and podcasts are there to catch up on with a full player.
The listener features bring a station really close to its audience. Listeners send greetings, song requests or voice clips straight to the studio, vote in polls and see the result instantly. The editorial team replies in person, right in the listener's inbox. Promotions and sponsors appear as cards on the app's start screen, and push notifications bring listeners back when a show starts or breaking news comes in.
The editorial team works in one CMS for app and website. Whatever it changes there reaches listeners immediately, without an app update and without waiting for the store. The assistant Ekko KI writes articles on request, builds pages and polls and analyses playlist and likes, always as drafts; only the editorial team publishes.
