Sunday night, sofa, remote: one click and TLC's “Creep” is playing on the big screen. For 90s90s we built the Smart TV app that brings the 90s into the living room, from soul & RnB to Eurodance, techno and grunge.
90s90s is digital radio for everyone who grew up with the 90s. In the app, the streams are arranged in rows that invite you to browse: “Alle Radios”, “90s Weekend-Vibes” with club hits, house and Eurodance, “90s HipHop & RnB” or “Der Sound der Loveparade”. Land on a tile with the remote and you instantly see which song is playing there, cover included.
We built the app in the 90s90s design, connected it to the 90s90s API and brought it to Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung Tizen and LG webOS, including support for LG's Magic Remote. All platforms share one technical foundation, and the current track appears on screen in real time.
The latest addition is Vega OS. On its current Fire TV Sticks, Amazon has replaced Fire OS with the Linux-based Vega OS. We extended the Smart TV app to support it, so 90s90s also runs on the new sticks. Rows and streams still come from the API, so a new section shows up on every TV in one go.
